Garrafon Park Isla Mujeres Description

Located on Isla Mujeres (which is 4.5 miles by boat from Cancun) and run by Dolphin Discovery, Garrafon Park is a nature park where you can snorkel among sting rays (just don't hit them with your flippers by mistake) and exotic fish, kayak, try a zip line, relax in a hammock garden, and visit a lighthouse and small Mayan ruin as you walk to the easternmost tip of Mexico. There's a fabulous wading pool for children of all ages. Lockers, life jackets, and other gear are provided.

Kid Tips

Babies: Put the baby in a backpack and explore the park. A shaded wading pool and the hammocks are just right for this age.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Since most activities are geared towards older kids and you probably have a great pool at your hotel, skip Garrafon Park if your kids are toddlers.

School-Age Kids: The zip line is for ages 11 and older. Snorkeling, a great pool, and the Mayan Ixhel Temple will keep school-aged kids busy all day.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Turquoise water, high cliffs, enormous stingrays, and lots to choose from make this a great place for teens.

Planning Notes

  • Bring biodegradable sunscreen. The Mexican sun is hot and you'll need sun protection but make sure it is chemical-free so you don't hurt the fish (you can buy some there).
  • Bring a swimsuit. They provide clean towels, lockers, and lifejackets.
  • Carry flip-flops but wear sturdy shoes. All the paths are marked by level of difficulty but you'll want comfortable shoes for hiking and biking.
