Waikiki Aquarium Description
With more than 400 different underwater species on display, the intimate Waikiki Aquarium lets kids take a peek below the sea's surface -- including a chance to see a real life Nemo (or clown fish) up close and personal. While the sheer size of the colorful giant clams impressed one 12 year old, younger children were content to stand with their faces pressed to the glass watching the lazy, mushroom-shaped jellies dance in the water, or play "I Spy" with the resident eels.

Kid Tips
Babies: There's plenty of room for a lightweight stroller and the flashy fish are sure to catch their eyes.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Low tanks and viewing windows make this stop ideal for the knee-high set.
School-Age Kids: Looking at underwater creatures is fun stuff, but kids this age will appreciate the opportunity to actually touch spiky sea urchins or slimy sea cucumbers in the aquarium's shallow pools.
Planning Notes
- Bring coins. If you're driving, you'll need them for the parking meters, and inside the aquarium, there are a couple of "smashed penny" machines for an inexpensive souvenir.
- Consider leaving the car behind. The aquarium is only blocks from Waikiki and located on the Waikiki Trolley route.
- Call ahead. You'll want to watch the endangered Hawaii Monk Seals dine twice daily every day except Wednesday. Feeding time varies; call ahead to find out the day's schedule.
- Look for coupons. Make sure to check coupon books (available at hotels and stores throughout Honolulu) for discounts.
