My story about: Procrastination & Laziness

glvogelzang's story

July 27, 2007

Some children are self-motivated and some are not. I have one of each. At least I know its nature and not nurture. I have found that the less motivated child is actually afraid of failure. His fear is so great, that he prefers not to try things if he perceives he might fail. His lack of motivation is not driven by laziness, but by fear. The best thing we can do is to break down the tasks into smaller, more manageable parts so that they are not so overwhelming. And then, praise like crazy the smallest accomplishments. Building confidence is the key.
