Not quite sure how to make the traditional campfire treat s'mores? Well here's the recipe to use when you hit the campsites with your family and friends!
The formula
It's hard to believe, but I had never tasted a s'more until I was
an adult. I never got to be a Girl Scout, so the occasion never
arose when I was a kid. So if you're like I was and don't already
know how to make this classic camping treat, here's the
formula.
Ingredients:
6 regular sized chocolate bars (Hershey bars are the classic
choice, but use your favorite flat chocolate bar)
12 whole graham crackers, each split into 2-inch squares
24 large marshmallows
Directions:
Roast marshmallows over the campfire, making them just as you
need them for each S'more (these treats are best consumed hot or
at least, warm). For each S'more place one roasted marshmallow
and one small square of chocolate between two graham cracker
squares. Give it all a little squeeze and take a bite!
Variations
- Chocolate lovers may want to double the amount of chocolate.
- Try spreading the crackers with peanut butter before adding chocolate and marshmallow.
- Cashew or almond butter or Nutella® (a chocolate hazelnut spread) also work well.
- Raspberry jam or preserves also make a great spread before adding marshmallow and chocolate.
- Don't like chocolate? Try any of the above variations with white chocolate or Hershey's Cookies and Cream bars.
- Don't forget to try the new chocolate graham crackers on the market for an even sweeter treat.
Makes 24.
