This cookie recipe was made for my kids in honor of the Spiderwick Chronicles movie's release (Aunt Lucinda is one of the characters). They are fans of the book series, and I treated them with a menu of foods inspired by the stories.
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
- Cream butter and sugar together until light. Add egg and extract and beat well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to butter mixture and blend until a soft dough forms.
- Drop by teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° F for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
- Cool on sheets for a few moments and remove to a rack or plate to cool completely.
