I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

I wanted to give you an update on a review that I wrote on the Senseo Supreme Single Serve Coffee Maker. A while back, I wrote about how I upgraded from my beloved original model, the 7810, to the newfangled 7832. Well, I have to tell you, it hasn't turned out so well.

My husband got me the original Senseo model (7810) for my 40th bday about 3 years ago. I fell in love with that coffee maker. I am a coffee FREAK. I sold coffee for over 5 years. Mama loves her some coffee. As the years go by, I have gotten pickier and pickier regarding my coffee. And there has been many a coffee maker to blow through our household. It's kind of funny, but the original coffee maker we got for our wedding when we got married lasted about 12 years. And then, one day, out of the blue, when we had 5 extra guests (my sister and her family) in our house, it shot craps. Kaput. Just like that. The water would no longer come out when you pressed the little button. At the time when we got it, I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. It had a TIMER! Oooh, ahhhh! Ah, 1989. Those were the days.

Well, since that one broke, I got the Capresso Grind & Brew, which made excellent coffee, until the grind feature got a little fowled up. And then, I read about the Senseo and how it brewed a fresh cup every time. And not only that. It put the foamy head on top of every cup. That part really intrigued me. Right about that time, I found out that my friend Lynn had purchased one and LOVED it. She had me over for a cup, and that was all she wrote. I told Big Strong Man that it was a "must" for my birthday that year, and the rest is history.

It made outstanding coffee with no mess, and there was never the problem of the coffee getting old in the pot, etc. Plenty strong, etc. My favorite drink from the coffee shop was an Americano (espresso with hot water added), to which I added cream and Equal, so this was a perfect fit for me and far less expensive than my daily coffee fix at my local coffee joint. The only downside was that the cup clearance was about 4", not tall enough to fit a standard coffee mug.

Then, Senseo came out with the Supreme (7832) in late 2006. I was thrilled because it had the adjustable spout which accommodated a taller cup. Hubby got me a new one for Christmas, and I gave my old one to my niece. PROBLEM! The new one doesn't taste right. They must have changed the heating element because the water tastes metallic (like vaporizer water). I'm on my third one (all from different sources), and they all taste the same. I've had other people support me on this. It tastes bad. I've even gotten one unit directly from the manufacturer. I have searched all over the web for evidence of other users reporting this problem. So, now I'm throwing down the gauntlet - to you, my loyal readers. Spread the word, and help me find out if any one else is having this problem. I really can't see getting a 4th 7832, but I'm desperate. I hate to go back to the old 7810 'cuz' I'll be back to the same ol' problem with the cup size.

What's a poor coffee junkie to do?
