An Easy-to-Use Batter-in-a-Can

I'm excited about a new product we've discovered in our household:  Organic Batter Blaster, "Original Pancake & Waffle Batter."  I can't really take credit for discovering it; it's become quite the rage in the neighborhood and some friends of ours provided a couple of cans that we went through ravenously and quickly. They had picked up the product at our nearby Costco, and were happy to pass on an enthusiastic recommendation for trying it out.

The batter is absolutely delicious and boasts a healthful list of nearly all organic ingredients. The batter is contained in an "aerosol" can (like the ones that you spray whipped cream out of), and can be used in a non-stick or cast-iron skillet, griddle, or even on a waffle iron. To that end, the batter can be used for both pancakes or waffles. And, since you control the "spraying," you also determine the thickness of the pancake or waffle you're preparing.

In addition, as long as you're there to supervise, the kids can also take part in the meal preparation. The batter is dispensed easily enough, and is slow enough coming out of the can to have ample control over.

Once you've doled out the batter, let the pancake cook on one side for two to three minutes, then add in any "mix-ins" you might like to include, such as chopped strawberries, sliced bananas, blueberries, or -- if the kids are really behaving -- chocolate chips. Flip the pancake over, and let the other side cook for two to three minutes. You can serve immediately, or keep warm in a 200 degree oven while you finish whipping up your pancake (or waffle) batches.

I've also discovered that this batter works well (and can be rendered thin enough) to prepare a dessert for grown-ups. The batter can be dispensed as crepes for a memorable after-meal treat. The crepes can be served alongside raspberry or mango puree along with sweetened, freshly-whipped cream.

So, either for kids or adults, the pancake, waffle, or crepe-eating result can be described as having a "blast!"
