Tori Spelling likes to dress her little ones in organic onesies.

My friend Tracie Hamilton is an eco mama -- she outfitted her nurseries with organic material, makes her own natural baby food, and she and her hubby -- Olympic skater and current Apprentice star Scott Hamilton -- relocated from Los Angeles to Tennessee to enjoy a greener lifestyle. So when she gave birth to second baby Max this past year, I knew I had to, gulp, find the perfect "it" eco gift.

Happily, I discovered that there’s a booming business of green baby products out there that are not only eco-friendly, but also fun, cute, and downright practical!

We’re talking things like the celeb fave Little Showoffs "eat, sleep, poop, cry" organic onesies favored by Tori Spelling or their "organic baby" tee that Gwyneth Paltrow snapped up for Apple.

Or, if you’re looking for a gift that gives back, 90210 star and mom of three Jennie Garth teamed with Green Works natural cleaners to design a cool eco-friendly tote bag -- for every $10 bag sold, $3.65 goes to the Sierra Club. "Like many moms, I’m on a journey to living a more natural lifestyle without sacrificing quality and convenience," said Garth.

To let your fingers do the green online shopping, check out The Little Seed, Soleil Moon Frye’s organic baby store. The erstwhile "Punky Brewster" sells knapsacks made from hemp, organic Can You Dig It? swaddle blankets and phthalate-free, lead-free, and PVC-free Green to Grow baby drinking bottles.

Mom of four (though her crazy-flat stomach doesn't show it!) and current Dancing with Stars contestant Brooke Burke’s online site offers a super cool Hera Diaper Bag made from vintage sails. It even has a spot to hold the baby bottles and your cell phone.

You probably won't find him in a shirt, but you might find hot daddy Matthew McConaughey carrying months-old Levi in a New Native Baby Pouch, organic carriers made with natural twill. Keri Russell, Cindy Crawford, and Kate Hudson are also fans of these baby bundlers that sport nary a hook, ring, or snap.

Sometimes all it takes is simple green advice. Julia Roberts, whose hands are full these days with 4-year-old twins Hazel and Finn and 1-year-old Henry, turned to Gorgeously Green author Sophie Uliano for homegrown beauty tricks and to find beauty essentials like non-toxic nail polishes. "This is what I’ve been waiting for," Roberts told Good Housekeeping, "someone to tell me what to do!" Roberts was so enthused about Uliano, she wrote the forward to her book.

Another helpful eco read and good gift idea is Christopher Gavigan’s Healthy Child, Healthy World, where dozens of stars share their green tricks. "There are really so many easy ways to green your genes and keep this whole planet spinning healthily through the cosmos, there's no reason you shouldn"t be starting something today," Gavigan writes in the HuffingtonPost.com. Gavigan suggests goodguide.com to find safer alternative for health products. You can also log on to Healthy Child’s non-profit partner Wee Generations to check out their eco-friendly diaper bag.

"When you become a parent, you would think the choices become more obvious, and they do," Brooke Shields writes in Gavigan’s book. "You always know who comes first -- but then there are still trade-offs; there always are. I've changed all our products to eco-friendly ones, but sometimes I have to bring in something less eco-friendly as a supplement. I use all recycled paper products except toilet paper."

Clearly for Shields, softness counts, which is why she turns to Nature’s Gate oganic baby skin products for daughters Rowan and Grier. Gwen Stefani and Maggie Gyllenhaal also swear by the line’s baby oils, diaper rash cream, and gentle baby wash.

Even Brad Pitt is putting his handsome face in the eco-product ring. The father of six recently teamed with Kiehl’s to create an Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleaner. All the proceeds will benefit Pitt’s JPF Eco, a non-profit set up to "minimize impact on the environment through thoughtful design." The bottle’s label includes a reproduced hand-written note from Pitt and is a perfect gift for any mom.
