Balancing Act
Finding pearls of wisdom in a real woman's world
Teenagers and pumping gas don't mix -- at least in my
limited experience thus far. Princess in Waiting and I were
headed to Costco to get the bare essentials. You know the type of
trip: 80 packages of fruit snacks, 60 frozen hamburger patties,
10 pounds of frozen chicken, 4 pounds of butter, the 12-pack box
of Orbit, and the ever-so-important , not-to-be-overlooked 50
gallon drum size fountain soda. Hey, nickel difference. What

As a parent, I am supremely aware of sportsmanship as it
relates to our children's personal development. As I see it, one
of the main reasons for our kids to be involved in sports is to
learn the art of being on a team. That is to say, they should
learn that winning isn't everything (duh, I know...), grace and

My brother has a beautiful lakehouse at Table Rock Lake
near Branson, Missouri. Though we do not consider ourselves to be
true "lake people", we love to visit them there in the summer.
Soaking in a few rays, taking a spin on the lake, getting in some
